How We Build and Rank This Directory
Last updated: September 9, 2026
We think you should be able to see how a directory decides who appears in it before you trust what it tells you. This page explains where our 303 surgeon listings come from, how they are ordered, and what featured placement is.
Where our listings come from
Listings reach this directory two ways. Most come from publicly available sources: we compile the best-reviewed cataract surgeons across each state from public review platforms and professional directories. The rest come from surgeons and practices who submit themselves to be listed.
A surgeon does not have to know we exist, ask to be included, or have any relationship with us to appear here. Most of the people in this directory have never contacted us.
How ratings are aggregated
Ordering is driven by an aggregated rating score built from a surgeon's ratings across review platforms, rather than from any single source in isolation.
Google Business Profile ratings carry the most weight. It is the largest and most actively maintained review source for medical practices, so it is the strongest available signal of what patients actually report.
Google reviews sync to each profile automatically and are shown word for word, with the reviewer's own name. We do not write, edit, reword, or filter them, and a surgeon cannot have a review removed from their profile by asking us.
What featured placement is
Featured placement is not paid. No surgeon can buy a position in this directory, buy a higher rating, or buy their way past a better-rated colleague. We do not sell placement.
Featured placement happens on request, and it is not automatic. A practice that asks to be featured has to qualify: they must be highly rated and among the top surgeons in their area. If they do not clear that bar, they stay a standard listing.
Where a featured surgeon does appear in a prominent position, that position is labeled with a Featured badge so you can see it for what it is. Featured status never reorders search results against a better-rated surgeon.
What we do not do
- We do not sell rankings, placement, or ratings.
- We do not write or alter patient reviews.
- We do not remove a listing or a review because a practice asked us to.
- We do not claim to have examined, interviewed, or independently credentialed the surgeons listed here. Verify credentials yourself before choosing a surgeon.
Corrections
Directory data goes stale — practices move, surgeons retire, listings get out of date. If something on your profile is wrong, or you would like your listing updated or removed, contact us and we will fix it.
