Dr. Nisha Shah is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and the physician owner of Ophthalmology & Cataract Surgeons of Texas in Bellaire, serving the Houston area. She specializes in cataract, refractive (LASIK/PRK), glaucoma, and cornea surgery, including laser cataract surgery with lens upgrades and full and partial thickness cornea transplants (DSAEK, DMEK). She is certified on both the Alcon LenSx and Johnson & Johnson CATALYS femtosecond laser platforms.
She completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the Roski Eye Institute at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Hospital, with additional refractive surgery training with the United States Navy at Camp Pendleton. She also completed a research fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and has authored several book chapters and more than 15 peer-reviewed journal articles.
Her practice follows a surgeon-led model: patients see Dr. Shah at every visit, from consultation through surgery and post-operative care. She is affiliated with the Houston Methodist and Memorial Hermann hospital systems.

I appreciate Dr. Shah's honesty and integrity. I was very concerned by a diagnosis I received from a very large chain eye clinic. I had never had eye problems before, so was skeptical of the diagnosis. So, I went to Dr. Shah for a 2nd opinion. If the diagnosis was true I'd do all needed for healing my eyes. After examining my eyes, Dr. Shah had a much simpler diagnosis. I was very happy to know Dr. Shah didn't parrot what the previous doctor told me. I was also relieved to not need eye surgery, as the other doctor recommended. I will see Dr. Shah in future, not returning to the previous doctor.
