Response from the ownerWe appreciate the helpful review, Danskie!- Response from the ownerThanks for the stars, Les!
I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the service received at the Urgent Care front desk during our recent weekend visit. My family and I approached the front desk simply to request the restroom code for my young daughter. When we attempted to ask, staff member Cheryl responded abruptly and shouted, "I'M WITH SOMEONE." At the time, the facility was not busy, with only one other patient present. Because of her aggressive demeanor and refusal to assist, my daughter was forced to wait under extreme discomfort and risk an embarrassing accident. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic courtesy—especially toward a child in a healthcare setting—is completely unacceptable. I expect higher standards of customer care and empathy from Kaiser Permanente staff and request that this matter be addressed with management.
Response from the ownerAloha, Alika. We're very sorry to hear about this incident. Please email us at KPHawaii@kp.org with your name and contact information so we can follow up. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and please know that we take your feedback seriously. My 5-year-old is, without a doubt, the most important person in my world. Finding a doctor who cares for him with genuine compassion, patience, and professionalism is an incredible blessing, and that’s exactly what we found in Dr. Kaylin Young. From the moment we walked into my son’s very first eye appointment, Dr. Young made both him and our entire family feel welcomed, comfortable, and at ease. What stood out most was how she approached his care as a partnership. She made us feel like we were working together to find the best solution for my son—not like she was simply overseeing his case. As a mom who gave birth during the isolating COVID era, that level of warmth, empathy, and collaboration meant more than I can express. I never felt rushed, despite having a long list of questions. In fact, as we were walking out, I remembered one last question. Without hesitation, Dr. Young brought us back into the exam room and gladly gave us even more of her time. That simple act spoke volumes about the kind of physician she is. Dr. Young is an exceptional doctor and an even more exceptional human being. Kaiser is incredibly fortunate to have her on their team, and so are the families she cares for. We are beyond grateful for the experience and couldn’t recommend her more highly. 🫶🏼

⭐☆☆☆☆ As a Kaiser member from the Big Island, I was referred to the Honolulu specialty fertility clinic because these services aren’t available on my island. I genuinely believed that having insurance would make this process more accessible, but instead I feel like all that’s wanted is my money. For every appointment, I have to pay out of pocket for airfare, a rental car, transportation, and lodging—all for a 15-minute visit. There is no travel assistance or support, despite there being no fertility specialists available where I live. I’ve called and shared my concerns, but I don’t feel heard or understood. After my first fertility treatment was unsuccessful, I’m already emotionally overwhelmed and heartbroken. Now I’m faced with the stress of repeating the entire process while also carrying the financial burden of traveling back to Oahu. I had hoped my first treatment would be successful so I could avoid making these expensive trips again. Patients from the neighbor islands deserve better access to specialty care and more support when travel is required. This experience has added unnecessary financial and emotional stress during what is already one of the most difficult times in my life.
