Dr. Martin Edwards, MD

Dr. Edwards is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in anterior segment diseases, advanced cataract surgery, femtosecond laser-assisted procedures, and intraocular lens technologies including toric and multifocal implants.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University, where he was named a Division I Academic All-American in football, and earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Edwards completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Following a military scholarship, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, where he became Chief of Ophthalmology at Walson Air Force Hospital, launching an excimer laser program for service members. He also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute.

Dr. Edwards is a member of the New England Ophthalmic Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians, and is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is on staff at Hartford Hospital and operates at its Eye Surgery Center in Newington and the Rocky Hill Ambulatory Surgery Center. He has been consistently recognized as one of Connecticut’s Best Doctors.
