He previously taught as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, continues to perform clinical research there as a Clinical Research Professor, and is currently working on multiple studies related to glaucoma, dry eye, and cataracts.

I feel sorry for Dr. Oday Alsheikh. You are a perfect example of greed, selfishness, and self-righteousness. Friday, May 29, 2026 was not your day. You are trying to do too much. Be careful about brandishing your words as a means of patting yourself on the back. I’ve always heard it said, “An empty wagon makes a lot of noise.” Humility is next to godliness. Your tone and energy are despicable and unnecessary and unwarranted. I waited patiently for you, but when I left your office I immediately noticed I was the last and only vehicle in the parking lot. I don’t like being taken for granted and I’m sure you don’t. I will go elsewhere where folks appreciate their patients, staff and the blessings.
They say that all good takes time. The wait is worth every bit of it because of the professionalism that is given to the patients. A patient doesn’t mind how long he is sitting in the room with the doctor. The wait time might be long, but it is because the doctor is taking care of somebody like you would like to be taken care of. I have coming to this practice for many years as did my parents.

We are honored to be part of your family's eye care journey.As I write this review, my stepmother and I been waiting for 3 hours to see Dr. Oday Alsheikh, M.D. His staff is telling that this is normal because he goes to Oregon every other week & overbooks when he’s here. It’s not “normal”. My stepmother has dementia, complicated by sundowner syndrome and diabetes. I drove in from Austin to bring her to this appointment and It’s absolutely irresponsible of the doctor to keep people waiting so long without giving them the opportunity to prepare properly. Late, selfish, irresponsible, and egotistic.
The staff is wonderful and so is the doctor Anthony in the optical section is so knowledgeable and caring and respectful

I've gone to Dr. Alsheik for many years . I stayed with him because he did my cataract surgery and became accustom to waiting. I felt bad but got kind of used to be treating so unproffesionally. I always had to wait a couple of hrs. and on my last visit waited 3 hrs. The receptionist informed me the earlier the appt. the shorter time you should have to wait. My appt. Was at 10:30. I am 74 yrs old and cant do it anymore. I dont think he would want anyone to treat his family like that. I wasn't going to complain but it might save someone else the agony. There are plenty of reputable 5 star physicians that wont take all day that don't put their patients through that. This came back to mind because I got a bill for test that I took but didn't get results. Thankfully the business office understood and took care of it.

He treated me for a corneal laceration which was in bad shape. I was very pleased with his concerns and ability to treat me. His staff was wonderful as well. My eye has not regain its full effect after the surgery. Dr. Al sheik kept pushing for additional treatment when my eye was not normal like it was prior to the surgery! I might be an odd man out but I can’t recommend this doctor because of this experience.

Uveitis (including iritis) is a known risk after cataract surgery, occurring in 1-6% of cases, according to national averages. This condition is more often related to a patient's individual genetic factors than the surgeon or surgical technique itself. Factors such as race, gender, pre-existing medical conditions, and medications (including those that may affect iris function) can influence the likelihood of developing uveitis. Additionally, research on post-operative medication regimens has shown various approaches with differing outcomes. For example, some protocols that involve a single intraoperative injection without post-operative medication have a reported uveitis rate as high as 15%. The most common approach is a tapering regimen over several weeks, with a 1-6% uveitis incidence rate. Dr. Alsheikh’s approach, which involves a more robust dosing strategy with a defined cessation date, is designed to minimize the risk of complications like uveitis.
