Stephen Slade, M.D. is a world renowned ophthalmologist, specializing in LASIK, Presbyopia correction, cataract surgery, implantable contact lenses, and refractive surgery, serving patients in Houston, Texas. About Stephen Slade
He completed a residency at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans and fellowships in corneal surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and in New York, New York on Project ORBIS. Dr. Slade is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is an active teacher of surgical techniques and has taught, lectured to, and certified over 8,000 surgeons on LASIK and lamellar refractive surgery.
In 1991, along with Stephen Brint MD, Dr. Stephen Slade performed the first LASIK in the United States. Later he performed the first Custom LASIK ablation based on topography in the United States. He has since done tens of thousands of cases.
Stephen Slade, M.D. has remained on the cutting edge, having the nation’s longest experience with laser cataract surgery, all-laser LASIK, accommodating IOLs (Crystalens), and the implantable contact lens (ICL). In fact, Dr. Slade was a lead investigator and presented the data to the FDA for panel approval for both the Crystalens and the implantable contact lens. Of unique note, Dr. Slade is considered a “surgeon’s surgeon”. Over 450 of his fellow eye surgeons have chosen him for their own eye surgery. He is an active researcher and the U.S. medical monitor for several new technologies including the Intralase laser for All-Laser LASIK, the implantable corneal contact lens, and the Wavelight laser. He has received numerous awards including 11 named lectures, Refractive Surgeon of the Year, two China Service Medals, the Summit Technologies Pioneer of Refractive Surgery Award, the Casebeer Award, and the Lans Lectureship.

The doctor here are amazing they do live Changing work. The staff at make discrimination jokes about disabilities with visions problems and have led me to find a different doctor
Beware surgery’s are dangerous left eye never the same still weak and blurry compared to right eye this was eyes ago and after 2 years you have to pay customer service fee s great though
These place is true the mexican doctor the doctor slade wasn't answering your emails and my name is enrique poncei remb i had like 40% of the icl cost he could of been more upfront with me. At the end had prk in mexico with another dr.
My RLE procedure was purely elective to eliminate the need for glasses. Dr Slade, Dr Essa and the team run a first class operation and I felt like I was their number one priority at all times. On the day of surgery I was helped to feel completely at ease throughout (both eyes same day). At the next day follow-up I had 20/15 vision and now, one week after, I have not experienced any of the side-effects that have been reported and I am delighted with the results.

I’ve worn glasses since I was 5 and contacts since I was 7. My vision got as bad as -20, and I was told by multiple places for years that I wasn’t a candidate for any procedures. After moving to Austin and getting the same answer again, a friend recommended Slade & Baker Vision. I was hesitant after wasting money on consultations elsewhere, but they offer free consults, so I gave it a shot. Best decision I’ve made. Dr. Essa is hands down the best optometrist I’ve ever had, thorough, personable, and genuinely cares. Her and Renee made the entire process feel comfortable and easy. Dr. Slade performed my surgery and was incredibly skilled and straightforward. At 42, after ICL + LASIK, I now have 20/20 vision… something I never thought was possible. Truly life-changing!!! Highly recommend this team.
Dr. Slade and Dr. Lovoy and their staff were wonderful! I went from being told by other doctors that I could never get my eye fixed to getting it fixed the next week. It was such a smooth and easy process and everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout. They always made sure I was comfortable and I could not be happier with my results. Dr. Slade is world-renowned for a reason. The procedures he performs can be done elsewhere, however, as the daughter and sister of surgeons, I know all too well that it’s the person doing the surgery that matters more than any other factor. I promise you, you want THIS surgeon. He is the best in the world at what he does. Eye surgeons hold him in high regard. That’s how you pick an eye surgeon .
