Today I experienced something I didn’t even realize I was carrying so much emotion around until it happened—and it completely overwhelmed me in the best way. 🥹❤️ This morning, I had LASIK with Dr. Woolfson at Biltmore Town Square in Asheville, and I have cried so many happy tears today trying to process what this actually means for me. I’ve worn glasses since I was 11 years old. I honestly don’t remember what it feels like to wake up and just… see. For most of my life, the first thing I’ve had to do every morning is reach around for my glasses just so the world—and the people I love in it—could come into focus. And today, that changed. Tomorrow morning, I get to open my eyes and see my baby. 🥹 I get to wake up and see her little face playing in her pack and play without fumbling around the nightstand trying to find my glasses first. I get to watch her grow, catch those tiny little moments, and see her clearly the second I open my eyes. And when I’m lying in bed and my husband is across the room talking to me, I can just look at him and see his face. I don’t have to reach for anything. I don’t have to squint. The two people who mean more to me than anything in this world are just… there. Clear. I know those things probably sound so incredibly ordinary to someone who has always been able to see, but to me they are anything but ordinary. I’ve spent almost my entire life seeing the world clearly only through a pair of glasses. I never realized how much emotion I had attached to that until today. When something has been your normal since childhood, you don’t really stop to think about all the tiny ways it affects your life. And then suddenly, in a matter of minutes, that normal is gone. I’ve cried on and off all day because I’m happy, overwhelmed, grateful, and honestly still in disbelief. It feels like I was given something back that I haven’t had since I was a little girl. There are going to be thousands of ordinary little moments after today that are going to feel completely extraordinary to me. Seeing my baby first thing in the morning. Seeing my husband’s face from across the room. Falling asleep without worrying about where I put my glasses. Opening my eyes and having the world already be there waiting for me. Today wasn’t just about getting LASIK. Today changed the way I’m going to see the rest of my life—literally. 🥹❤️ I will never forget this day or how it felt. I’m so incredibly thankful for Dr. Woolfson and everyone who took care of me today. And I already know tomorrow morning, when I open my eyes and see my baby clearly for the first time without reaching for my glasses, I’m probably going to cry all over again. ❤️ 20/15 vision! P.S. The instructional video here is so iconic it’s well.. troll worthy 💀👏 well done guys, such an incredible experience and team
Dr. Woolfson and his staff made everything nice and simple. The whole process from consultation to surgery was just one week. The surgery itself is 10-15 minutes and isn’t all that bad! Woolfson and his staff have a great sense of humor and will make you feel comfortable and at home.
I cannot say enough about how amazing Woolfson is! I had LASIK done today and the staff was so kind, caring, and accommodating. Each prior appointment, I was treated how patients should be treated at any institute. If I could come here for routine eye care, I would. If you have been debating where to have surgery done, I cannot recommend Woolfson enough! I also want to brag on how amazing Tarah and Dr. Todd is. They want nothing more than for patients to feel seen, heard, and cared for. Thank you Dr. Woolfson and staff.
I made a huge mistake getting lasik surgery. My lasik procedure was about a year and a half ago. I had near sightedness, at a lens magnification of -6.5. That's pretty high for lasik, but on recommendation from my eye doctor, I came to woolfson eye institute. My eye doctor mentioned that there's a low percentage chance of developing some temporary additional glare. I was never told by anyone that I would potentially suffer long-term glare issues, or that I could have large permanent floaters, and constant light balance problems, and focal distortions. A simple google search will reveal many of these types of post-lasik issues in other frustrated patients. My eyes focus slower now. Light changes are slower. High contrast situations are challenging, looking at phone and TV screens is challenging, driving at night is challenging. My eyes struggle to settle on the focal plane. Things can look hazy and my focus seems to be wobbling forward and back between focal areas. It can be hard just to hold an object in sustained, clear focus. I have a large, opaque floater in my left eye that dominates my focal line, so reading sucks now. And that's just the darkest floater. My whole field of vision looks like palm fronds waving if I look from left to right and back. This might be the biggest regret of my life. So let me tell you: if you don't absolutely have to do lasik, don't do it. I would definitely rather not have 20/20 vision than have the host of other issues that I have now. Also, when I came in for my issues shortly after the procedure, they blamed it on dry eye and sent me on my way. This place sucks. It's very clear to me now why they pressure their patients so hard for the positive reviews. I took my time to review and I waited to see if things got better and they just haven't. Just leave your eyes alone.

Thank you.There is so many great things that I can say about my appointment at Woolfson Eye Asheville! Dr. Todd and her entire staff are great and filled with knowledge. LASIK SX is the way to go. My vision was 20/200 and after LASIK SX it is now 20/15. It's one of the closest things to a miracle when it comes to vision.

We are always gratified to hear of positive experiences.Left a LASIK consultation with Dr. Todd after being repeatedly pressured to share my appointment with another patient despite clearly declining. When I chose to leave, she followed me into the hallway continuing to push the consult and stating I was a candidate for surgery. I did not feel my boundaries were respected and chose to seek care elsewhere.
