About Dr. Michael Feilmeier
Dr. Michael R. Feilmeier, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship training in laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK), corneal disease, prosthetic corneal transplantation, and premium refractive cataract surgery. He provides expert care using standard, toric, and multifocal intraocular lenses.
Dr. Feilmeier earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and graduated with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute—consistently ranked the #1 eye hospital in the U.S.—and went on to complete a fellowship in cornea and international ophthalmology at the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah.
He currently serves as the Medical Director of the International Division of Ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he focuses on curing avoidable blindness in underserved regions. He has trained eye surgeons and delivered care in countries such as Haiti, India, Nepal, Ghana, and the Dominican Republic. Locally, he volunteers at One World Health Center and Sharing Clinic.
Dr. Feilmeier is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and an affiliated ophthalmologist with the Himalayan Cataract Project. He lives in Elkhorn, Nebraska, with his wife and two sons, and enjoys fishing and the outdoors in his free time.
