Dr. Stephen Cross is a highly trained ophthalmologist and cornea specialist serving the Columbia, SC area. After earning his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, he completed an internship at both Georgetown University Hospital and INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at UAB Callahan Eye Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, and furthered his expertise through a prestigious fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins — one of the top-ranked ophthalmology programs in the nation.
At Wilmer, Dr. Cross received subspecialty training in cornea, anterior segment surgery, and external disease. His clinical and research interests include Fuchs dystrophy, modern endothelial keratoplasty techniques, and the management of ocular surface disease. He is also deeply engaged in exploring the intersection of ophthalmology and medical economics. With affiliations at both Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital and Lexington Medical Center, Dr. Cross is committed to bringing advanced, compassionate care to patients across South Carolina.

Dr. Cross is the best cornea specialist. His office workers and nurses are all number 1 in my opinion. They are all friendly and informative. Dr. Cross has saved my husbands eye.
