He specializes in general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and surgery, and diabetic retinopathy treatment, with particular expertise in cataract surgery and the implantation of custom intraocular lenses to correct astigmatism and presbyopia.

Inside staff and doc are great
I recently used the Westfield Eye Center for a surgery and I could not be happier with the care. Dr. Thayer and his team not just in Westfield but at the surgical center as well go above and beyond to make sure you are informed of all that is happening. They take such care and at every step that I will not go anywhere else. The kindness of the staff is all you need to feel comfortable in what for some is an incredibly stressful time. I was trying to chicken out leading up to my surgery and now I can't wait to get my other eye done.. if you are nervous, go here. If you are skeptical, go here. If you want the best treatment, go here. If I could give them all 10 stars I would. You won't be disappointed. Brian
As a 39y/o guy being informed I needed cataract surgery on both eyes honestly terrified me. Dr Thayer and his entire team were amazing. They did everything in their power to put me at ease about the entire process, to the actual surgeries, to the follow ups. They made everything quick and painless. Communication was fantastic throughout. I was given the opportunity to be the first patient of Dr Thayer to receive a new type of Lens (EnVista) which so far I am extremely happy with! I didn't realize just how degraded my vision had become. I can now see clearer and more vividly than I have been able to in a very long time. I highly recommend Dr Thayer and the entire team at Westfield Eye Center to anyone in need of any kind of eye care. A huge thank you to Dr Thayer and his amazing team of true professionals!

My mom was referred to Dr Thayer for her cataracts and everyone that I interacted with was amazing. Shout out to Nicole, she dealt with us the most and has always been friendly and helpful. Dr Thayer is personable, professional, and knowledgeable, he explains everything clearly so you can make the most informed decision. We are also thankful for his patience, my mom doesn’t speak English and also has dementia so things do take longer with her but he has always showed kindness with her care.
