My two cataract surgeries with Dr. Tal Raviv of the Eye Center of New York were a tremendous success. He was recommended to me by my ophthalmologist, who made the key observation that Dr. Raviv does every surgery himself, as opposed to delegating some procedures to junior colleagues, as is the case elsewhere. I am in my late 70s and have several health issues that could potentially have complicated the surgical outcome, but Dr. Raviv has experience in dealing with all of them, and he and his highly competent staff guided me through the preparation with exemplary attention to detail. The procedures on both eyes only required local anesthesia and involved practically no discomfort. We decided on monofocal toric lenses, which include correction for astigmatism, and this turned out to be an excellent choice. Although my cataracts had become so advanced that I could barely venture outdoors without an escort, my vision in both eyes is now 20/20, and I only need to use inexpensive over-the-counter reading glasses occasionally to facilitate the reading of very small print, e.g. on my cell phone. I should note that treatment at the Eye Center of New York includes several follow-up visits over the course of a month or so with Dr. Raviv and his associates to ensure that post-surgical recovery is proceeding properly. All in all, this was one of the best medical experiences I have ever had.

Dr Tal Raviv performed cataract surgery on my right eye a year ago and on my left eye two days ago. Dr Raviv took into consideration my pre-existing eye conditions as well as the type of IOL best suited for the type of tasks for which I need clear vision. I am happy with his choice of IOL for each eye. I was happy with the result of the right eye. My left eye, still healing, has a macular pucker which has a higher risk of developing swelling so Dr Raviv put me on an extended drops schedule to help control the swelling. Dr Raviv’s office and the surgery facility are both immaculate and well equipped. The staff in each facility is competent, friendly and efficient. I saw Dr Melissa Sherman for the post-op checkup. I highly recommend Dr Tal Raviv and Dr Melissa Sherman. Both are excellent doctors and a pleasure to work with.

This was such an easy wonderful experience! From my first visit to the office to the first surgery - every person that works with Dr. Raviv was kind and helpful and always had a smile on. This is not a hospital situation - you are guided along the way and constantly being checked on and explained what is going on and what is next. It was a wonderful experience and I had to all over again a week later! I’m seeing 20/20 better than I have in my life. I can’t recommend Dr. Raviv and his office any more highly!!

It is with profound gratitude that I write this review for Tal Raviv, who performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes on May 6 and May 13, 2026. To begin, I was far from a routine cataract patient. My left eye was essentially nonfunctional — I could not read at any distance and was virtually legally blind, with significant astigmatism. My only functioning eye, the right eye, required a +5.5 correction and was progressively weakening. In addition, I have glaucoma. Given that I effectively depended on one eye, the thought of cataract surgery was deeply frightening. My original ophthalmologist strongly recommended Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) cataract surgery. However, because I felt I had far too much at stake, I began extensive research to find the most experienced and skilled surgeon possible for a complex case such as mine. Modern technology is truly remarkable — even ChatGPT consistently identified Dr. Raviv among the very best cataract surgeons in New York City based on expertise, surgical volume, and outcomes in difficult cases. From my very first consultation, Dr. Raviv inspired confidence. He took the time to explain every detail carefully and thoroughly. Most importantly, he explained why he did not recommend LAL lenses in my specific case, using clear and understandable language rather than complicated medical terminology. I never felt rushed, and I fully understood the reasoning behind every recommendation he made. Each of my eyes required a different lens approach. My functioning right eye received an EDOF (Extended Depth of Focus) lens, which Dr. Raviv determined would provide the best outcome for my particular condition. Today, I am proud to say that I am another one of Dr. Raviv’s success stories. The precision of his measurements and surgical expertise gave me something I honestly never thought possible: I no longer need contact lenses, reading glasses, or any corrective eyewear at all. I now have perfect 20/20 vision. My heart is full of gratitude for Dr. Raviv, his exceptional medical staff, and the wonderful Dr. Sherman, whose kindness and attentive post-operative care made this entire experience even more reassuring and positive.

I had cataract surgery and new lenses (PureSee) put in by Dr. Raviv. Every part of the experience was terrific from the office to the surgery place. As for the end result, I went from seeing an out of focus brown world through a collection of at least twenty glasses to seeing a bright, sharp world where the whites are white and every color is vivid - AND a world of books and newspapers I can read without any of the glasses. I haven't seen this well since I was a teenager. It is a truly awesome experience and worth every cent. Thank you, Dr. Raviv.
